The holiday tradition kicks off at 5 p.m. and lasts all evening through to 9 p.m. Local businesses will be holding sales, selling festive items and even some yummy snacks while Christmas music is playing. An added safety bonus this year as Deer Park Avenue closes down for the event! Santa Claus will ride up and down Deer Park Avenue starting at 5:30 p.m., being pulled on a horse-drawn carriage. Children will be invited into the carriage for a photograph with the holly jolly one.

The event, sponsored by the West Babylon Lions Club and West Babylon Fire Department, will kick off at around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. The parade will start the event off, beginning from 3rd Street and Little East Neck Road and marching all the way to 10th Street. The tree lighting ceremony is expected to start at around 6 p.m. at the corner of Little East Neck Road and Vermont Avenue.

Don't miss the second official start of the holiday season in Babylon Village. Local officials will officially light the tree at Argyle Park at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The event caps off the holiday kickoff weekend of the village.

Lindenhurst

Alleghany Avenue Hosting Holiday Night of Shopping

The fifth-graders at Alleghany Avenue Elementary School will be presenting "A Night of Holiday Shopping" at the school this Friday evening. Over 20 different vendors and crafters will be on hand for the event at the elementary school, including many with catalogs filled with items to order from.Santa Claus will also reportedly being on the scene, available for photographs with children. The event will get under way at 7 p.m. and end around 9:30 p.m. on Friday
