WI Lacrosse Alumni Roundup

Here's a look at how former West Islip High School lacrosse players fared for their new schools last week.

Every Monday during the college lacrosse season, Patch will update you on the progress of former players.  Since there's so many to count, we won't be listing every player each week.

Player of the Week: Eddie Plompen (C.W. Post, So.)

Second-year attackman Eddie Plompen had a career day in Post's 19-3 win over Grand Cayman on Saturday.  Plompen scored three of his seven goals in the first quarter for the No. 1 ranked Pioneers.  Post will continue their Arizona trip and play Mesa State on Tuesday.

Justin Turri (Duke, Jr.)

Turri recorded two goals and one assist in the Blue Devils's 12-7 loss to Notre Dame in the inaugural Sunshine Classic in Jacksonville, Fla.  He now has three total goals for fifth-ranked Duke.

Peter Mezzanotte (Towson, Sr.)

Mezzanotte recorded four ground balls in Towson's season-opening 10-6 loss to No. 11 Johns Hopkins.  Mezzanotte, who was drafted in the seventh round of the MLL draft by the Long Island Lizards, was named to the preseason All-CAA team.

Nicky Galasso (UNC, Fr.)

Coming off ACC Player of the Week honors for his four goal performance against Robert Morris, Galasso and UNC stumbled against Ohio State and were upset 13-8.  Galasso did tally two goals and one assist, but it wasn't enough for the W.

Ryan Zaremba (Geneseo, Fr.)

No, Zaremba and Geneseo didn't begin their season yet, but InsideLacrosse.com did tab him as a DIII Transfer to Watch last week.  Zaremba, who spent a year at Army Prep, will be replacing All-America goalie Dennis Costanza and will have four years of eligibility.

Please email A.J. Voelpel (anthonyv@patch.com) if he's missing someone who made significant contributions to their team.
