West Islip Scoreboard: October 5

Lions go 3-2 in varsity sports on Tuesday, Cougars go 2-0.

Girls Tennis: Bay Shore 5 (3-3, 6-3) Lions 2 (5-1, 8-2), 

West Islip lost its first League 3 Division II match on Tuesday evening as Ali Hoffman and Michele Muscara lost their first doubles 6-4, 6-2 to Bay Shore's Brianna Frame and Amanda Gedney.

Boys Golf: Lions 8 (8-1) Whitman 1 (4-3)

The Lions cemented their first place spot in the League IV standings with a dominating 8-1 win over second place Whitman. James Sullivan shot a four over 39 on the front nine to lead West Islip to victory at Southward Ho Country Club.

Boys Cross Country: Lions 16 (1-2) East Islip 44 (0-3)

Ryan Tantone led the Lions by finishing with a time of 17:46. Steve Foppiano followed at 18:06. Bill Martin, the team's top sophomore, came in at 18:27. Freshman Scott Nelson ran an impressive 18:37 to come in fourth place. Senior Steve Hetterich came in at 18:55 and right behind him another senior, Skylar Ellison, finished at 18:57.

Girls Cross Country: Lions 32 (2-1) Northport 23 (3-0)

Ali Foote led the Lions as she came in at 18:41, good for first place overall. She's come in first in each race for the Lions thus far this season. Northport improved to 3-0 led by Brigid Brennan, who finished at 19:08.

Boys Soccer: Lions 3 (6-0, 7-1) Bay Shore 2 (3-1-2, 3-3-2)

Sean Sepe scored for the fifth straight game to lead the Lions to the overtime win. Sepe tied the score then got the game-winner in overtime and now has eight goals in the past five. The Lions remained undefeated in League II and have clinched a spot in the playoffs.

St. John the Baptist

Girls Tennis: Cougars 5 (3-3), Our Lady of Mercy 2 (3-1)

St John's Shannon Soper defeated Chrissy Falino 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 as the Cougars got their third win CHSAA play.

Girls Volleyball: St. Anthony's 3 (5-0)Cougars 0 (2-4)
