West Islip Falls To Deer Park
Missed opportunities trip up softball team in 7-4 loss on Wednesday.
West Islip High School’s softball team fell to 8-3 as Deer Park topped the Lions 7-4 Wednesday at the high school.
The Falcons (7-3) jumped out to a 5-1 lead but West Islip (8-3) would cut that lead to one on home runs from Marisa Motisi and Stevianne Ognibene. However, Falcons pitcher Jaxie Collard worked out of bases loaded jams in the second and fifth innings to prevent West Islip from taking the lead.
Holding a one-run lead heading into the seventh inning, Deer Park’s Theresa Grimaldi’s single drove in two insurance runs. In the game, Ari Tedeschi homered for the Falcons and scored twice.
Collard got the win for Deer Park and Alyssa Monteverde took the loss for West Islip.
