The season came to an early end for the West Islip boys lacrosse team as the Lions were defeated by Smithtown East 12-4 on Tuesday in a Suffolk Class A quarterfinal matchup.

With the loss, West Islip’s run of nine consecutive county Class A titles (2004-2012) comes to an end. Over that period, the Lions were 188-10 and appeared in the state championship game six times, winning five titles. For the 2013 campaign, West Islip finished 12-6.
