Coach "couldn't be any prouder" of the team.

The U10 Black Diamonds (Bobby DiCapua, Bradley Battaglini, TJ Mulroy, Kevin Palm, Bobby Marsh, Nick Sandoval, Ryan Rafferty, Joey Donarumia and Sean DeLuca) participated in the 2013 Independence Day Championships at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank over the Fourth of July weekend.

Coached by Kevin DiCapua, Kevin Battaglini and John Mulroy, the boys started the tournament on July 4th, playing a total of 6 games, with Sunday being a triple header. The first game of the tournament was against the Freeport Seminoles (Travel Team) and the boys had an 11-6 win.  Friday’s game was against the Plainview Hawks, another win with a final score of 14-2.  Saturday brought the boys their only defeat against the U10 LI Ducks Travel Team comprised of players from all over Long Island, final score 15-3. Sunday morning the team won against Team Baseball Heaven, a travel team, with a 9-5 final score. The 3 out of 4 wins placed the boys in the semi-finals as the second seed, once again playing against the Plainview Hawks. The Black Diamonds prevailed 10-3.  The championship game was played Sunday at 4 p.m. against the LI Ducks.  This time however, the boys held the Ducks to 2 runs, while scoring 3 of their own to win the championship.  It was an exceptionally well played U10 baseball game with great pitching and fielding by both teams. The Black Diamonds were down most of the game, 1-0, but got some big time hits in the 5th and in the 6th to go ahead 3 to 1. The Ducks got one in the bottom of the 6th, which wasn’t enough and the Black Diamonds won 3 to 2.

As Coaches and parents we couldn’t be any prouder of our boys.
