West Islip Business Participating in Small Business Saturday

There are nearly a dozen West Islip stores and businesses participating in the upcoming Small Business Saturday event which is dedicated to helping local businesses during the holiday season and throughout the year.

This year it takes place on Nov. 30, between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Local residents are encouraged to shop locally and purchase services, gift and gift certificates from participating stores and plan any holiday events at local venues.

The program, founded in 2010 by American Express, provides AMEX card holders a special incentive for supporting local businesses. Card holders get a one-time $10 statement credit when they spend $10 or more in a single, in-store transaction at a qualifying small business. Local stores participating also offer specials on Small Business Saturday.
