WI's Scuderi Drafted by Lizards

Recalls fondly the 2006 state lacrosse title for West Islip

West Islip's own Christian Scuderi completed his college lacrosse career at Hofstra University and was excited to find out that he had been drafted to play professionally for the Long Island Lizards with the sixth pick (18th overall) in the Major League Lacrosse draft.

The 6'4'' defenseman just completed a two-year career at Hofstra. During this past season, he started all 14 games for the Pride and is looking forward to continuing his career on Long Island.

"I feel like I have a couple of more years left in me. I figure why not go on to the next level," he said.

Scuderi's Hofstra biography said he began playing lacrosse at the age of 10. Of all the lacrosse games he has played and memories he has had in his career, Scuderi lists winning the 2006 New York State Class A title as a member of the West Islip Lions as his greatest. "It was great for West Islip," he said.

That 2006 championship was the first in school history and was also the first of four championships the Lions would win over the next five years. Scuderi was quite a force on that team, being named an All-American in 2006.
