The 2013 Election Guide: A Look at Local Races

Find out who's running against who in Islip and on the county level.

Islip Town residents will head to the polls Nov. 5 to vote on a long ballot listing state propositions, local town races, county seat contests as well as a slew of judicial races.

In Islip, there are two town council races pitting Republican incumbents Trish Bergin Weichbrodt and Steve Flotteron against Democratic challengers George Hafele and Astrid Fidelia.

On the county level, longtime incumbent Legislator and West Islip resident Thomas Barraga is unopposed in his quest for a fifth two-year term in the 11th district.

Polls open Tuesday at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
