Nearby car jacking report same night turns out to be misreported incident.

Suffolk Police are investigating a robbery at a 7-Eleven store on Pine Aire Drive in North Bay Shore that occurred on Nov. 3.

According to police, two men entered the convenience store about 1 a.m. and stole cell phones cases. One of the robbers acted as if he had a gun but one was not displayed, according to police.

In a second incident, in the same time frame, a man initially reported a car jacking incident to police but police have determined it was a non-criminal act.

The man told police he was sitting in a car on Pine Aire Drive, at about 1 a.m., when someone tried to car jack him. An investigation revealed there was no threat or weapon displayed or physical contact involved. The man simply had asked the other man to get out of the car, say police.
