Police: Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Brentwood

A 68-year-old man was trying to cross Suffolk Avenue when he was hit, police say.

A 68-year-old man was struck and killed by a car in Brentwood Sunday night, police said. 

According to police, the man was attempting to cross Suffolk Avenue from the north, between Eastern Avenue and Willoughby Street, when he was hit by a 2014 Nissan Versa at about 10:25 p.m. 

The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of family, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said. 

The driver of the Nissan, a 25-year-old Brentwood man, was not injured and no criminal charges have been filed.
