Driver in Deadly 2010 Accident Sentenced

Fatal car wreck occurred on June 29, 2010.

The Lindenhurst woman who veered off a road in West Islip in June 2010 that resulted in the fatality of her 23-year-old friend was sentenced to 3.5-10 years in prison, according to the Long Island Press.

The Press reported that Angela Commisso, 22, pleaded guilty in early November to driving without a license, reckless driving and vehicle manslaughter, among other chargers. Commisso also admitted to driving drunk at the time of the accident, the Press said. 

Commisso and her passenger, Jenny Daprino, of Bay Shore, were travelling east on Montauk Highway in a 1995 Lincoln Town Car around 5 a.m.  The vehicle veered off the road, struck a utility pole and rolled several times.

Both women were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where Daprino was pronounced dead.
