2 West Islip Natives Nominated for Military Service

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced nominees on Friday

United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced Friday her nominations of Long Islanders to the U.S. Armed Forces, including two from West Islip. 

Daniel Alotta (U.S. Air Force) and Victoria Folz (U.S. Marine Academy) were amongst the nominees that Gillibrand and her committee announced. 

Alotta and Folz were selected from a large pool of qualified applicants, but demonstrated tremendous attributes, including academic record, leadership potential and overall achievement.

“Our Service Academies are distinguished by a devotion to honor, courage and commitment," Gillibrand said in a statement.  "I am honored to nominate these young, talented New Yorkers who exemplify these core values. It is my hope that the accomplished nominees have the chance to live their dreams and serve in our country’s armed forces with distinction.”

The final acceptance stage is determined soley by the military academies.
