Week 7 in the NFL

As the NFL gets ready for its week 7 matchups a number of key games should begin to paint a picture of which teams are on track to make a playoff run for Super Bowl XLVIII.  Right now three divisions have teams tied at the top of the Standings.  In two other divisions teams are separated by just one game.

The marquee game this weekend will take place in Indianapolis where the Denver Broncos will face the Colts, in what has been billed as Peyton Manning’s homecoming.  The Broncos hope to remain undefeated and keep pace in the AFC West with the NFL’s surprise team of this season the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs.   The Chiefs will play host to the disappointing Houston Texans. 

The Cowboys march into Philadelphia on Sunday to take on the Eagles in an NFC East contest of 3 – 3 teams.  The winner will take the lead in the divisional race while the loser will fall below .500.  In the NFC North both the Bears and the Lions look to stay on top as the Lions at 4 – 2 take on the 4 – 2 Cincinnati Bengals, while the Bears go into Washington to play the 1 – 4 Redskins.

Here in New York, the Jets take on the AFC East division leading Patriots hoping to climb to just one game behind with a victory.  While in the AFC North the Ravens and Brown look to improve on their 3 – 3 records and stay close to the division leading Bengals.

Although it is still early in the season, by Sunday evening the NFL playoff picture should beginning to come into focus…
