From Bad to Worse

Week four was not a good one for fans of New York football.  Both New York teams played poorly in all phases of the game.  The Giants were beaten 31 – 7 while the Jets lost 38 – 13.

The Giants were bad.  However, one bright spot, they showed some improvement over their loss in Carolina.   Against the Panthers they were ravaged by a winless team.  At least yesterday they were only destroyed by an undefeated team.  While last week they were shut out, against the Chiefs, they scored seven.  Nonetheless, the truth is Giants players drop passes, opposing players run uncovered through their secondary and special teams are horrendous.  The Giants look overmatched.  Aside from Victor Cruz no one on the Giants steps up to make a play.

As bad as the Giants were the Jets were worse because, at 2 – 1, the Jets had given their fans what has amounted to false hope.  They had an opportunity to keep pace with the division leaders and they did not show up.  Jets turnovers amounted to 28 Titan points.  Despite an overall advantage in yardage the Jets were thoroughly beaten where it counts most, the scoreboard.  But like the Giants, the Jets too had a bright spot.  The Jets  were able to cut their number of penalties in half.  Against Buffalo they had recorded 20 penalties while this week only ten.  By the way, still too many.

Oddly enough, neither team is out of the race.  Both teams are just 2 behind the division leaders with plenty of games to play.  Be that as it may without some fast improvement it will begin to get late very early for New York football fans…
