Three Newborn Cousins Share a Unique and Special Bond

The three babies were born within weeks of each other at South Shore Hospital in Bay Shore.

If family tradition continues on course cousins Francesco, Valentina and Madeline are destined to be best friends just like their moms have been all their lives, and the fact they were all born within a month of each other at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore makes for a unique bond.

Sisters Josephine Scalone, 33, of Holbrook, gave birth to Valentina on September 27; Catherine Ahrens, 35, also of Holbrook, delivered Madeline on October 11 and third sister Angela Granzino, 38, of Mastic, welcomed Francesco on September 9.

The three cousins are destined to spend a great deal of time together as they grow up as their moms are extremely close when it comes to being together and speaking every day.

During a press conference at South Shore hospital this week, where the three cousins met each other for the first time all together, the sisters said their hope is that their children will grow up to be very close and that they are really looking forward to the holidays this year.

Dr. Salil Bakshi, one of the obstetricians who treated the sisters during their pregnancies, said, “This is one of the great things about being an obstetrician in the community---we get to visit with our patients and watch them grow.” He added he had never seen a situation where sisters delivered so closely to each other.
