Aug. 2: What's Happening in West Islip

The hot and hazy weather returns to West Islip once again with temperatures soaring up to 84° in the afternoon. While there is not a chance of a thunderstorm according to the National Weather Service, an Air Quality Alert for the area – it is recommended those with health conditions, the young and the elderly keep from extended outdoor activities.

Kids can learn to at the West Islip Public Library at 10 a.m.

New parents can take their babies to the library for an hour of starting at 10:15 a.m.

Visit the library and get the chance to . Available times are 2-3 p.m. for children grades kindergarten through third, and 3:30-4:30 p.m. for other grades.

The library will also be offering a, which is mandatory before the dreaded road test. The course is $40 and must be paid in cash. Please bring your learner's permit and a black pen.
