This Week at the WI Public Library

A list of activities held at the library for the week of August 15, 2011.

Each week, the plays host to numerous activities and unique events for its residents.  Whether it's for a child, tween, teen, adult or senior, there's always something for everyone.

Every Monday, West Islip Patch will provide a list of all the happenings at the library for the week.

Tuesday

Design Your Own Umbrella (3-4 p.m.):  Help celebrate merry ol’England by designing our very own umbrella. **Please note that the paint we will be using is permanent so wear appropriate clothing. $3 material fee.

Enrichment: Teens with special needs art programs (3-4 p.m.): WIHS student Nikki Zauro will work with teens with special needs in creating a unique art project that will become a permanent display at the library. Call reference desk before attending.

Wednesday

Defensive Driving (6-9 p.m.):  For all the info and details, . 

Sweet Shoppe Bingo (7-7:45): Kids in grades K-6 can enjoy a bingo game where the reward is candy.

Thursday

Defensive Driving (6-9 p.m.):  For all the info and details, .

Yoga for Kids (6-6:45 p.m.): Join Jackie Morrison for a relaxing course of Yoga.  Bring a mat if you have one.  For grades K-6. 

Friday

Sushi Made Simple (3-4 p.m.):  Ever wondered how sushi was rolled?  Attend this class and find out.  But call ahead to see if there are spots left. 

Friday Afternoon at the Movies (Starting at 1 p.m.)- For a list of upcoming films, please visit the Library Blog

Seniors Fitness Classes (11 a.m.-12 p.m.)- This is a series of gentle exercises with Vicki Luckman geared toward increasing range of motion and flexibility. Bring 1-3 lb. hand weights, a water bottle, and a face towel.  Fee: $15.  Limit: 40.
