Heat Advisory Issued For Summer Solstice

National Westher Service expects the heat index to top out at 104 degrees for Wednesday afternoon into Thursday in Western Suffolk County.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory Wednesday afternoon for parts of Long Island including Western Suffolk County.

The weather service said it expects the heat index to top out at 104 degrees for Wednesday afternoon and early evening into Thursday afternoon and early evening.

A heat advisiory is called when humidity pushes the heat index above 100 degrees for at least two consecutive hours.
