Students and staff at Bayview Elementary School participated in a district-wide effort to show their support in the fight against breast cancer. With the help of the Bayview PTA, pink ribbons were sold and donations were collected for the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition.

On Breast Cancer Awareness Day, students and staff participated in a "Walk for a Cause" at the end of the day. Students held signs that read "Bayview Cares" and marched outside the school in an effort to promote awareness and build community support for an important cause.

"This year, we wanted to involve our students by having a walk as a symbol of our united support," said Bayview Principal Rhonda Pratt. "Many of us know women who have been affected by breast cancer and we just really wanted them to know we care."

In total, $589.00 was collected by Bayview Elementary School.
