Business Community Welcomes Residents

Our Town Keeps Running In Sandy's Aftermath

The devastation that has occurred in our community and in our neighboring communities has dealt a serious blow to our residences and businesses.  I am proud to say that even when electricity was sparse our West Islip business community rallied by opening their stores for our residents.  King Kullen and Stop n Shop opened their doors for non-perishables immediately working off of generators.  Best Yet had fully stocked non and non-perishable foods.  Ace Hardware provided essentials too!  Villa Monaco, Italiano's, Farrell's and other local restaurants kept cooking to feed those of us without power.  From North to South and East to West our business community stepped up to continue serving us.  As of today, our local gas stations are still pumping.  Let's be proud to live in West Islip and let's do what we can to help our neighbors who are in need with a hot shower, hot meal and a little light.  Keep our children safe from falling trees and limbs as some may have weakened during the storm.  Be careful driving and let's be optimistic for our future.
