Keep It In WI This Holiday Season

West Islip Chamber of Commerce President Diane Fontana informs residents of current chamber notes.

I did hot yoga Wednesday night.  Did I say hot yoga?  Yes, I did and I feel wonderful today.  I was a little intimidated by some of the more experienced yoga guests, but I quickly got over that and concentrated on my own moves.  By the end of the class I was feeling more confident to try again in a few days.

Where does that lead me too?  Well, we have a new business in town that offers hot yoga lessons along with many other healthy options for you and your whole family.  I am talking about Phountain (Water and Detox Spa).  We often don't find time to take care of ourselves the way we should.  Visit Phountain on Higbie Lane and you will be giving yourself the gift of feeling good this holiday season.

In just a few days we will be on our way to opening up this holiday season right here in town.  The annual Festival of Lights ceremony begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5 with music and festivities on the corner of Higbie Lane and Udall Road.  All are welcome and it is a great way to spend a few hours with the family.  As always, hot cocoa and cookies will be served back at the and children can enjoy goodies from Santa and the elves.  The elves, of course, are the wonderful people that put this event on every year.  The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the make this event heartwarming and fun.  So, please stop in and enjoy!

The Chamber's Holiday Party planning is underway.  The party will also be at the American Legion Post 1738 on Dec. 9 from 6-9 p.m.  Chamber members will enjoy music, refreshments, raffles and a few surprises.

We are ending a year that brought us much sadness and we are hoping for all good things for the future.  Our 2011 business directory is underway and we are almost at the close of advertising spots.  Anyone interested in placing an advertising can contact the WICC www.westislip.org or Southbay's Neighbor Newspapers at production@southbaysneighbor.com to place your ad. Time is running out.  This year's directory will list chamber members by category to give our residents an easy look up for services, retail, health, home improvement, etc.  We hope you all enjoy using your directory that will be out on January 12, 2011.

Well, we are winding down our year and wish all the residents and businesses of West Islip a very happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year.  Remember to shop local and support your local merchants. Keep It In West Islip (KIIWI) should be a way of life.  It saves time and wear and tear on your vehicles.  I hope to see everyone at the Festival of Lights!  All the Best to Everyone!
