The West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition will display their annual Pink Flags of October on Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.
Hundreds of flags, many bearing the name of those affected by breast cancer, will line the front lawn of the hospital. The opening ceremony begins at 3 p.m.
The flags will fly throughout the month of October to honor Breast Cacner Awareness Month. Last year's inaugural display featured 400 of the pink flags.
Community members interested in supporting the WIBCC’s flag display can do so by purchasing a ribbon that will be attached to a flag. The ribbon may be dedicated in the memory of a family member or friend who is fighting breast cancer or who has lost their life to the disease.
Those interested in purchasing a ribbon for the Pink Flags of October may contact the WIBCC at 669-7770 or by visiting the coalition’s website at wibcc.org.
