The holiday season is in full swing in West Islip.

Netter Real Estate's Annual House Lighting & Santa Visit

Netter Real Estate is bringing some holiday cheer during their annual house lighting Friday at 5 p.m. All community members are welcome to come and enjoy the fun food, and meet Santa. If you can, please bring a new or like-new unwrapped toy for Helping Hands of West Islip’s Annual Toy Drive.

Operation Grand Slam

The West Islip Department of Physical Education is teaming up with the Health and Wellness Alliance to host Operation Grand Slam, a sporting equipment drive for kids in need across West Islip.

The drive will take place on Saturday, Dec. 1. Donations of new and gently used athletic equipment can be dropped off at Kirdahy Elementary from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Holiday Book Fair

The Friends of the West Islip Public Library is holding their annual holiday book sale through Saturday. Browse hundreds of gently used books and movies at great prices. Teen volunteers are still needed-community service credit is awarded.

Sagtikos Manor Gingerbread Competition

The second annual gingerbread competition is happening at West Islip Public Library on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. See what kind of confections your neighbors have created and help pick a winner.

This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
