Weekend Events: Haunted House, Class of 2015 Yard Sale

Plan your weekend around these local events.

West Islip High School's Class of 2015 is hosting a yard sale fundraiser Saturday at the American Legion Post from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All funds raised will help support the class.

Parents can bring their children ages 18 months through pre-kindergarten to the library on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for a parent and child yoga class.

The West Islip Library will transform into a haunted carnival house on Saturday. From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. the tone will be "moderately scary" while 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. is not for the timid. The event is free, and children through sixth grade will receive a goodie bag.

Atlantic Nissan is hosting a Halloween pumpkin patch this weekend starting at 11 a.m. Families can go pumpkin picking, enjoy facepainting food and more.

Blink Fitness is hosting a series of boot camp classes on Sunday to help fight breast cancer. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., locals can participate in a class for $10, which will be donated to the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition.

This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
