Town, Spencer Honor Vietnam Wall Volunteers

Charlie Spencer hosted an awards dinner to honor those who donated their time to the Dignity Wall presentation this past October.

An awards ceremony hosted by Islip Town and was held Tuesday night at to honor the many volunteers who donated their time this fall when West Islip played host to the .

Spencer, who was the the venue coordinator and main sponsor of the Dignity Memorial, handed out a stack of certificates and plaques during the course of the evening. 

"I hope the Vietnam Memorial meant as much to everyone, as it did to me," he said.  "The whole experience is something I, and probably us all, will never forget."

Among those honored (to name a few) were Town of Islip officials; Ray Rendina, who coordinated more than 300 volunteers; JoAnn DiGiulio, who was Ray's assistant and the multiple local restaurants who donated food throughout the week. 

"I don't want to start mentioning names, because I know there's someone I'll leave out," Parrington said.  "There was just so many people who played a huge role in making the wall a success."
