Our Lady of Consolation's annual chinese auction has been canceled due to remaining prolonged power outages in the area following Hurricane Sandy.
The auction was scheduled to take place Friday evening in the cafeteria at St. John The Baptist High School, which only regained power a few days ago. As a result, organizers were forced to cancel the event.
According to Gina Irwin, Manager of Community Relations for Catholic Health Services Continuing Care, which owns the nursing home and rehabilitative center, there are no plans yet to reschedule the event.
Our Lady of Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center is located at 111 Beach Drive in West Islip.
