Members within the West Islip community have created schedule to donate dinners to the McCarthy family, who are currently tending to their teenage son who was struck by a vehicle on New Year's eve.
The teen, identified in court documents as Ryan McCarthy, was hit by a car on Udall Road on the night of New Year's Eve. He remains in critical conidtion at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. Three arrests have been made in connection to the crash.
To help the McCarthy family during this difficult time, a meal donation schedule has been organized online through CareCalendar.org, where individuals can register to cook dinner and drop off takeout on a particular night.
Though the calendar is currently filled through the end of the week, meals are still needed for the remainder of the month.
Those looking to donate a meal to the family can register by visiting CareCalendar.org and inputting the following information:
Calendar ID : 135696
Security Code: 5742
I do pray that Ryan makes a full recovery - and will be helping the family.
To clarify, the calendar was created by family friends in response to the McCarthy family expressing need for meals. Any dietary restrictions that the family may have are listed in the calendar. Though I'm sure any help and especially gift cards for takeout would certainly be appreciated and used by the family, according to the admin of the calendar, the homemade meals are indeed being eaten.
