Art Show on the Great Lawn

When/Where:  , W Montauk Hwy & Manor Ln, West Bay Shore, NY 11706 (Sunday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Why Go:  If you're an art enthusiast, visit Sagtikos Manor and enjoy amazing artwork from local artists.  The artwork will range from traditional to contemporary in various mediums.  A special exhibit of wood carvings and sketches will also be held in memory of Richard Milligan, a local artist who passed away.

Pricing:  Art show is free to the public and the regular admission will be charged for the tour. Food available.

Benefit at Speakeasy for "Bobbi and the Strays," a non-kill, not for profit shelter

When/Where:  226 Higbie Ln, West Islip, NY 11795 (Speakeasy) (Sunday, 1:00 p.m.)

Why Go: It will feature live music during the day, raffles and free BBQ.  Oh and proceeds will go to help save animals.

Islip Arts Council Free Concerts - Bayard Cutting Arboretum

When/Where:  440 Montauk Highway, Great River, NY 11739 (Bayard Cutting Arboretum) (Sunday, 2:00 p.m.)

Why Go:  The Bayard Cutting Arboretum is a New York State Park that was donated to the Long Island State Park region.  It is a beautiful location and ideal spot for outdoor summer concerts.  Starting at 2 p.m., come down to the Arboretum for a Sunday filled with music and outdoor magic.

Pricing: $8 parking fee

Saturday Night Cruise LI Road Gents

When/Where: , 187 Sunrise Hwy, West Islip (Saturday, 5-10 p.m.)

What:  The Long Island Road Gents are holding a Saturday Night Cruise at Bob's Stores.  The Gents are a family oriented club which features cars and trucks of all kinds.  Founded in 2006 in West Islip, this event is to support a local business and enjoy cars from all different models.

Pricing: Free

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Politics get dirty enough as is and I think this will increase participation and ultimately give us a better Board of Education.
