Captree State Park: A Fisherman's Paradise

Take a photo tour of the notorious south shore park

Captree State Park, which encompasses 298 acres, can be found at the southern end of the Robert Moses Causeway in West Islip and provides beautiful access to the natural beauty of Long Island. The park is surrounded by water on three of its sides overlooking the western end of Fire Island. Facilities here include fishing piers, boat launches, marine fuel stations, restaurants, tackle shops and playgrounds.

In case you haven't heard, Captree Island is a fisherman's paradise. The park features an oversized boat basin where vessels like New York's largest fishing fleet, the Captree Fleet can be accessed for fishing charters, sightseeing tours and dive boats.

Whether you visit Captree State Park to go fishing, scuba diving or simply enjoy the awe inspiring landscape that Long Island's southern coast has to offer then head to the park.
