McShane Three-peats As Jeopardy! Champ

WI native won his third consecutive show Tuesday night.

The last time we mentioned Dan McShane, the West Islip native and grad, he had just and was the buzz of amongst the female persuasion.

On Tuesday night, McShane delivered once again, being crowned the three-day Jeopardy! champ, beating out two other contestants and winning $15,601 in the process.

McShane, a game logger for MLB Productions, has now won a grand total of $40,001 and will go for the superfecta tonight at 7 p.m. on ABC.

According to Jeanie Kenkel, author of The Jeopardy! Fan Blog, McShane's run began last Friday night when he took down 6-time defending champion Dave Leach in dominant fashion.  

Kenkel said it was a significant accomplishment for him to beat a "superchamp" (someone who has won six or more consecutive shows).  She said there has only been 18 in the show's history.

That makes McShane three wins away from Jeopardy! and game show immortality.
