A West Islip family is desperately searching for their dog after he went missing following a home burglary on Tuesday.

The owners believe Joey, also known as "JoJo," a 3-year-old daschund-maltese mix, was stolen from their home after it was burglarized, given that all the doors were shut when they returned to their home on the corner of Higbie Lane and Hunter Avenue.

Joey is described as tan, with some black fur on his ears and tail. His owners say he also resembles a Lhasa Apso. He is very friendly, however he barks often, which could be an identifying characteristic.

"We do believe he was stolen and someone is keeping him as a pet. This is OUR BABY we wont stop until he's returned home safely!" Joey's owners wrote in a Craigslist post, which includes many photos of the dog.
