Westbrook Lease a Topic Tonight on West Islip Board Agenda

Proposed rental deal has sparked debate among Patch readers.

The West Islip School Board of Education is expected to discuss a revamped lease agreement for a tenant at the former Westbrook Elementary School.

An "approved" new lease  with the South Shore Children’s Center of West Islip is on the agenda for tonight's meeting that starts at 8 p.m. at the West Islip High School. The initial agenda issued by the district did not include the agreement. Here is a link to the revised agenda.

The agenda indicates that a new lease agreement has been approved by the district. An inquiry to the district, by Patch, regarding the lease approval and reported start of renovation work as part of the agreement were not answered by press time.

The SSCC is now renting an additional closed bathroom and closet and is paying for $22,000 in renovations, according to district officials.
