It's Jets Week to Win

According to the formula, this week the Jets win.  That’s how this season has gone so far.  Win one, lose one.  After getting blown away by the Buffalo Bill last week it is the Jets turn to lay a beating on the Baltimore Ravens.  The problem with the formula is that if the trend continues the best the Jets can do is an 8 – 8 season. That will not be good enough to make the playoffs.

Winning this week is not a sure thing either.  The Ravens are a desperate team themselves.  At four and six they are a game behind the Jets for a playoff spot.  They also are the reigning Super Bowl Champion.

The Jets defense must show up for them to have any chance at all.  The whole defense, not just the front four.  While teams have been unable to run against the stout Jets linemen, they have been successful throwing the long pass.  One thing that Ravens quarterback Joe Flacko, ‘the mad chucker’, does well is throw the Bomb.

Offensively the Jets must cut down on turnovers.  With a lack of big play makers, quarterback Geno Smith needs to be careful with the ball.  A repeat of last week’s four turnover game could be costly for a team that right now sits in the last playoff spot.

Which Jets team will show up?  That has been the question all season long.  Just hope that last night Rex didn’t decide to take the team out to Chuck E Cheese…
