Dance Studio Moves Into Westbrook

Shuttered West Islip schools now home to several tenants including a dance studio, event planner and daycare.

The former Westbrook Elementary School will be home to a dance studio as the West Islip School District has leased space to Divine Rhythms Dance Studio.

Long Island Business News [subscription required] reports the lease of 16,300 square feet of the school was brokered by West Islip-based Realtor Jamie Winkler.

Event Planner Robert Leoni has leased 900 square feet at the former Kirdahy School.

Divine Rhythms joins The Bridges Academy, Bettinelli's Community Boxing Academy and South Shore Children's Learning Center as tenants of Westbrook and Kirdahy, which closed in June 2012 as a cost-cutting measure.

West Islip School District Attorney Thomas Volz discussed a number of possible tenants before the Town of Islip Planning Board at a meeting in October.

Winkler represented both the tenants and school district for the deals, according to the report.
