Sidewalks, Building Tear-Downs Top Readers’ Wish List

Informal poll reveals La Grange Inn should be knocked down along with some other buildings.

If West Islip residents had their way the La Grange building, as well as a few other business structures, would be knocked down.

In fact the only West Islip improvement suggestion that seems just as important to Patch readers is getting new sidewalks and fixing old sidewalks.

“Get rid of all the eye sore buildings,” Bernadette Cornetto Kempf wrote in response to a West Islip Patch Facebook page inquiry about what improvements are needed around town.

One such building, noted Gail Sherwood and a few other Patch readers is La Grange Inn. But it’s not the only one readers want gone.

“The old Rayco building on the corner of Udall and Sunrise is such an eyesore,” writes Eileen Marotta Molloy.

Carol Buccino Pozzini and a few others say the community needs more and better sidewalks.

“Yeah enough with the random flower boxes and more with shops, sidewalks, and tear down that la grange already..just awful!,” states Lauren Salatti.

Bernadette Cornetto Kempf notes that she rides her bike around West Islip a few times a week and more sidewalks would make her outings a bit more safer.

“We do need sidewalks and where there are sidewalks they need to be fixed, someone is going to get hurt and sue the town, I think we just need a makeover!!,” she shared.
