Babylon Masons Help Raise $2,500+ for West Islip Teen Battling Cancer

Babylon Masonic Lodge's June 2, 2013 fundraiser for Christopher Huckstadt was a huge success, drawing over 100 people and raising a now-total of over $2,500, with more donations still coming in.  Chris is a 15 year old West Islip teen who is successfully battling Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma last December, and is now 2/3 of the way through radiation treatment after having undergone chemotherapy.
Upon learning of Chris's situation, Babylon Lodge sprung in to action and organized a spaghetti dinner fundraiser to help Chris and his family.  Advertisingwas coordinated  through Chris's friends and relatives via Facebook blogs, and postings on the West Islip Patch and Babylon Village Patch websites.
Chris and his family are forever grateful, and several guests who attended expressed admiration for the effort in putting on this event.  Special thanks go out to the members of Babylon Lodge and Kelly Ann McLaughlin-Fisher, the unofficial webmaster for the Cure For Chris II site on Facebook.
This truly was a Shining Moment not only for those who put this event together and those who came out in support of Chris's cause, but for Freemasonry as an institution by demonstrating one of its core foundations- helping a fellow member of the Human Family.
Anyone still wishing to donate can contact 631-255-8261 for further information.
