Girls Track Turning Out Nationally-Ranked Performances

Jessica Ball led the Lions to a record-setting season.

The West Islip girls winter track team continues to achieve at the highest level with record-setting and nationally-ranked performances.
 
Leading the Lady Lions team is junior Jessica Ball, who finished the Suffolk County indoor season as the league and Suffolk champion in the 1000 meter run. Jessica has broken her own school record in the 1000 meter four times this season which now stands at 3:00.35, ranking her 14th in the nation among juniors. Jessica will run this event two more times at the Long Island Elite Invitational on February 25th and finally at the New York State Championships at Cornell University on March 3rd.
 
Jessica is also a member of two winning relay teams.  The 4 x 800 (Jessica Ball, Alison Cappetta, Julie Laudenschlager and Annie O'Connell) will race on March 9th at the Emerging Elite Championship at the Armory in NYC. 

The following day, March 10th, the 4 x mile (Jessica Ball, Katelyn Ball, Julie Laudenschlager and Annie O'Connell) who are currently ranked as the No.1 team in the United States in the metric equivalent (4x1600 meter), will race at the New Balance Nationals.
