West Islip teacher and alum passed away April 6.
Visitation and funeral arrangements have been set for James Beuther, a beloved West Islip English teacher and coach who died on April 6. Visitation services will be held at Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 17 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Beuther will be interred at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale. In lieu of flowers, Beuther's family requests donations be made in his memory to ChildHelp, 15757 No. 78th St., Suite B, Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Carl Riese dies at the age of 61.
Carl Riese, former WI Chamber of Commerce president and business owner, passed away last week. He was 61. Riese was one of the former owners of Segal Riese Realtors, Inc. located in West Islip and was most recently affiliated with Eric Ramsay Realtors. "He had taken over the business several years back and was an active member of our community," current Chamber president Diane Fontana said. "Carl is remembered as a kind, generous man and realtor. Passed away at her home on Tuesday, August 2.
Evelyn Rindfleisch, of West Islip, passed away on Tuesday, August 2. She was 93. Rindfleisch was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Armbrust) Csecs and was born in Brooklyn in 1918. Her husband, Edward Rindfleisch, Jr., died in Nov. 1991. She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Hilary; two sons, Rickey Allan Rindfleisch, Edward Jay Rindfleisch; her sister Rose Gensch; three grandchildren, Holly, Chip & Scott; and three great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ashley & Cole. She will be buried at Calverton National Cemetery.

Funeral services begin Monday at 2 p.m. at Chapey & Sons in West Islip.
Patrick Lamberson Sr., a West Islip firefighter and ex-captain of the department's Vanguard Engine Company died last week at a Florida hospital from a brain aneurysm. He was 46. Lamberson is survived by his wife Teresa and their four children. According to the WIFD's website, he joined the department on October 7, 1982 and was named lieutenant of the Vanguard company in 2005 and elected captain in 2007. He was also a retired New York City police officer and member of the Hartford, Pa., fire department after purchasing a home in that area. Hartford FD Chief Rick Moser said Lamberson was with them for five years and was a tremendous help training the newer firefighters. "His death was a big shock to everyone," Moser said. "It's a …

The popular faculty member and musical director of numerous groups at WIHS passed away early Tuesday morning.
Dr. Sal Fiore, director of four musical groups at West Islip High School and popular member of the faculty, died early Tuesday morning. He was 52. Fiore was well known for his musical guidance of more than 200 students and also acted as the director of Vocal Motion, the high school’s singing and dancing troupe. The group has performed in front of large audiences throughout the country, including Disney World and Universal Studios in both Florida and California.
