U.S. sucks.....as it should. Soccer is not an American sport.
Rollo Tomasi June 27, 2014 at 08:55 am
Plenty of PEOPLE didn't need the note...
Justin Time June 28, 2014 at 06:39 am
If it wasnt for all the media hype, soccer would not even be popular. Next, we will be paying forRead More viewing soccer on our already over charged cable bill that places a surcharge on sports casting. Nice isnt it for those who have no interest in sports what so ever!
Zoom on Brazil cities hosting the World Cup.

Soccer sucks.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE A STORY ABOUT OUR SHRINKING ECONOMY, BUT IT'S ABOUT BRAZIL...Doesn't THAT feelRead More good, being like a crappy South American country, this morning ? World Cup Euphoria Masks Brazil's Economic Woes Economists Have Slashed Growth Forecasts for Brazil, While Inflation Is Expected to Remain High http://online.wsj.com/articles/world-cup-euphoria-masks-brazils-economic-woes-1403568573

America does not care for soccer! Keep your hype in Brazil.

Replace "Cheer" with Marching Band...talent. difficult routines. practice a lot. Yep. IsRead More Marching Band a sport? Nope. Neither is cheerleading. Nobody is saying cheerleading is not athletic, or whatever. But that doesn't make it a sport...
Jill Longisland June 12, 2014 at 08:06 pm
Who will cheer them on? Will there be cheerleaders for the cheerleaders?
Patricia Mosier June 15, 2014 at 05:57 pm
Cheer leading is most definitely a sport. ..I didn't realize how much it was til my granddaughterRead More started it and how hard it really is.....These kids are incredible and more than just athletes!!!!

Ah yes, another waste-of-time sport, practiced constantly in WI, w/ bellowing fathers in all kindsRead More of weather. Maybe she should have spent more time studying something useful? Well, no matter, w/the ridiculous taxes we pay for these stupid sports she'll never be able to return to WI, marry, buy a house, you know, the suburban stuff. Hope they like lacrosse in PA.

So what? I'd much rather hear that this talented young woman has chosen a career involving herRead More intelligence, compassion, and intellectual abilities, rather than just running around a stupid, mindless athletic playing field. Women's intelligence is NOT served by this stupidity. If she doesn't exhibit any intellectual abilities, she will wind up driving a Cadillac Escalade Pickup Truck w/ a stupid dog and two brats in about 15 years. Save her, make her use her brain!!

Parents ruin sports..
sportsnut July 14, 2014 at 07:39 am
Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.

Here are his qualifications... "At OSU, Heilbron led efforts to complete the athleticRead More department’s $157 million fundraising goal as an element of OSU’s broader fundraising initiative. Under his leadership, OSU kicked off the “Our Beaver Nation” annual giving program, he managed capital projects, scholarship endowment, special events, sports specific fundraising and planned gifts. He also served as the primary administrator for men’s basketball and football programs." http://www.gazettetimes.com/sports/beavers-sports/osu-s-heilbron-leaving-for-ad-job-at-stony-brook/article_12fa3f12-d70d-11e3-a9ef-001a4bcf887a.html Yes, those are some coaching qualifications !

You Dick!
New York Patriot February 11, 2014 at 11:54 am
Someone tell the new owners of Patch - private equity firm Hale - that Patch is only relevant forRead More hyper-local news and information. We will get our sports and weather elsewhere.
Phil Konigsberg February 11, 2014 at 04:04 pm
I agree with New York Patriot - and how about getting what you post comprehensive - since youRead More mentioned the NHL teams that our local area Olympians are affiliated with, how about mentioning that Ryan Callahan is with the NY Rangers. The daily Bayside-Douglaston Patch emailed newsletter needs to be updated on a daily basis. Right now the I receive the identical email every day. Enough with the meatball soup already!
jerry January 12, 2014 at 10:18 pm
there are many players who are just as guilty as alex. he was just too big for his bridges and getRead More caught. lets not forget he never failed a drug test. yanks will be fine without him and now can spend some money for pitching. can't wait to see the team this year. so far looking good. made alot of good moves. lets go YANKEES1
Gerald Elias January 13, 2014 at 09:35 am
If A-Rod declines I'll be happy to accept the Duck's offer. Here are my qualifications: I grew upRead More playing Little League on the Long Island (mostly first base as I'm left-handed), and I have not yet been signed by the Yankees. I'm 61 but am still in reasonably good shape and am good with the hit-and-run...well, at least with the hit.
Mark Strong January 13, 2014 at 12:46 pm
It would mean a big reversal from Atlantic League CEO and Chairman as well as Duck owner/CEO FrankRead More Boulton who said months ago that if MLB suspends A-Rod then the Atlantic League would honor the suspension. So either Mr. Boulton has quietly gone back on his word or Mr. Pfaff is just working this for the press angle or he doesn't seem to care what his boss says.
Aidan Kelly.

is this Brian Gallagher's team?
Wendy Regan November 27, 2013 at 12:29 pm
2 West Islip teams won their division Super Bowl Championship in the Nassau Suffolk Football LeagueRead More this season! In addition to WI’s PeeWee 7/8 yr old championship win, WI’s 11/12 yr old Pony division team also won their division Super Bowl Championship. The older boys in the Pony division are coached by Brian Gallagher. Sunday’s arctic temperature drained my camera battery. Will someone from Team Gallagher upload a picture? Congrats to all of the players and their coaches!
