The week’s weather is looking good. No rain expected at start of the week, though a 20 percent chance of showers comes into play by Wednesday. Temps expected to stay in low to mid 60s and partly cloudy throughout the week.Community Activities
The Helping Hands organization in West Islip will be accepting new and gently used Halloween costumes and back to school clothes for the needy in the first half of the week. Drop off is at the West Islip Fire House on Union Boulevard and deadline is 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.New on Patch

There is a Blood Drive at Bayview Elementary School, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.It’s Monday Night Football Night at West Islip Library with game kickoff at 8 p.m.

The Women of West Islip are holding its third annual Oktoberfest event at Farrells of Brooklyn, in West Islip, and the fun kicks off at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 and gets you a free drink, light buffet and DJ music. There will be a Chinese auction and 50-50 raffle.It’s open mic night at the West Islip High School beginning at 6:30 p.m.
There is a Town of Islip Planning Board Meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Islip Town Hall.
