With the Christimas holiday just about two weeks off, it’s a very busy time of year for West Islip residents.
So here’s this week’s guide to what’s happening around town and how to get caught up on all the news from the past week as a new week arrives.
Baby It’s Cold Outside
Those intermittent warm days are likely going to be a distant memory as cold temperatures remain on tap for this week. Monday is the only day temps are predicted to be in the high 40s, with the rest of the week averaging mid 30s and the sun peeking out Wednesday and Thursday hopefully.

What’s Ahead This Week:
News To Come
Patch will have a story regarding the process of sexual offender residency given the news of an offender living near a West Islip learning program at Westbrook Elementary. Offenders are not allowed to live within a quarter mile of a school or registered day care facility and are monitored while on probation and parole. But once released from those conditions making sure offenders are not breaking residency rules is local law enforcement’s domain, specifically the Megan Law unit of the SCPD and Patch will have insight on how residents can help the police when there’s a potential issue.
