Local children Pre-K to 5th Grade gathered up their gear last week and headed over to Calvary Baptist Church of Bay Shore’s outstanding Gold Rush Vacation Bible School. Many children and their families attended and saw the most amazing faith driven dramas, western themed games, snacks, songs and crafts. They made new friends and saw how God's Love can be shared from a little church in the middle of their own neighborhood. The church members had as much fun as the kids and they were all able to learn about Jesus in and Old Fashioned Western “kinda” way!
At CBC the church’s purpose is to Glorify God, Grow as Believers and Go to the World. The VBS Mission Focus helped the children see how important it is to share God's Love with children around the world. There was a weeklong Quarter Competition between the boys and the girls to help raise shipping funds for Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes that the church will be gathering in preparation for National Collection week Nov 18th -25th 2013. CBC Bay Shore is an Operation Christmas Child Relay Center for Western Suffolk County and will be holding many events prior to NCW. The VBS children raised over $500 which entitles them to sponsor over 75 Christmas Shoe Boxes!! The children are going to be invited back in the fall to help pack these shoe boxes.
CBC not only presented these kids with a weeklong, free, fun packed event but gave them everlasting memories and unforgettable discoveries of the Rock of Ages, a loving God and who his followers are and how they live right here in the middle of the children’s very own “little home-town”.
