West Islip Man to Compete in NYC Triathlon

Paul Viar will raise money for children affected by Sept. 11.

A West Islip man will compete in the Aquaphor New York City Triathlon on Sunday, July 8.

Paul Viar, 41, is competing in the event to raise money for Tuesday's Children, a Long Island-based nonprofit who help children, individuals and families affected by Sept. 11. 

The course includes a 1.5 km swim in the Hudson River, a 40 km bike ride on the Henry Hudson Parkway, and a 10km run in Central Park. Viar, a member of the NYPD and a father of four, is one of 3,000 partcipants who will take part in the race.
