St. John the Baptist Student is a KIC Commissioner
Gillian Sokol will help run the junior commissioner program of Keep Islip Clean.
St. John the Baptist High School student Gillian Sokol is one of over 40 Junior Commissioners from 11 Islip Town high schools who have been sworn in to launch the JC Program of Keep Islip Clean for the year.
The KIC is an organization dedicated to preserving the world and ultimately improving the living conditions in Islip.

The KIC Junior Commissioner Program is a component of KIC's Education Program. KIC Junior Commissioners are high school students recommended by their school principal as having demonstrated environmental concern as well as social, civic and academic responsibility.
KIC's objective is to enable and encourage these young citizens to play an active role in making Islip a cleaner and more beautiful place in which to live and to instill in them a sense of pride and ownership for their community.

Darius Penikas, Assistant Principal of St. John’s, said “SJB is very proud of Gillian’s selection as a KIC Junior Commissioner and all of her work to help others understand, respect and preserve the environment”.
