Photos: WIBCC's 18th Annual Clam Shucking Contest

A look at the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition's annual Fire Island fundraiser.

A sea of pink invaded Fire Island as the held their 18th Annual Clam Shucking Contest in Kismet last Tuesday.

Hundreds of Long Islanders packed the dock near Surf's Out restaurant to enjoy the festivities including raffle baskets, an auction and live entertainment.

According to President this event is the coalition's largest, and accounts for more than 50 percent of their annual fundraising. All proceeds benefit the coalition's "Lend A Helping Hand" program, which offers support and assistance to local women fighting breast cancer.

The champion of the day was 59-year-old West Islip resident John Senft, who beat out 15 fellow contestants to win the clam shucking contest.

Patch snapped photos throughout the day. Scroll through the gallery to see them and feel free to upload your own.

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
