Good Samaritan Thrift Shop Gets A Facelift

Babylon Village shop unveiled its new look Thursday afternoon.

, a staple in downtown Babylon Village for more than 50 years, debuted an updated look Thursday afternoon at a special reception and blessing ceremony.

The three-month project included adding a new sign and vinyl siding on the exterior of the building, as well as a new cash register and improvements to the drop-off area in the back of the shop. The inside of the store will get a fresh coat of paint sometime this summer.

The volunteers of the Guilds of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, who run the store, are very pleased with the makeover.

"It looks fabulous," said Adele Reve, of Lindenhurst, who has volunteered at the shop for 30 years. "It's a great improvement from what we've had in the past."

The display windows have also been re-decorated to attract more foot traffic into the store as shoppers walk through the village.

"Its an important part of the village community, and we think the store deserved an updated look," said Vera Meinhold, president of the Central Council of the Guilds of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.

Meinhold said between the improved exterior of the store and a newly implemented color coded sale on merchandise each month, foot traffic and sales for the store have recently increased.

The Good Samaritan Hospital Guild Thrift Shop is located at 179 Deer Park Avenue. It is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. To 2:30 p.m. Donations are always needed and welcome up until 30 minutes before the shop closes every day. You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
