Family To Host Memorial Golf Outing for John Gaffney

Proceeds will be donated to local organizations in memory of the 5-year-old.

As the Gaffney family continues to heal from the loss of 5-year-old John, they have decided to celebrate his life by hosting a special fundraiser in his honor.

The will take place at The Hamlet at Willow Creek in Mt. Sinai on Monday, Oct. 8.

Tickets for the golf outing are $160, which includes 18 holes as well as a full cocktail-style dinner. Tickets to the dinner only can also be purchased for $75 per person. There will also be raffles and a $10,000 hole-in-one challenge.

All proceeds raised will benefit the John Thomas Gaffney Memorial Fund, which donates money to various causes and organizations within the West Islip community in memory of John.

"We want something positive to come out of a horrible situation," said John's mom Teri. "He was such a happy little kid. We want to honor his spirit and keep his memory alive."

Donations for raffle baskets and hole sponsorships are currently being accepted. Contact keith.mcgurk@facebook.com for details.

The memorial fund also accepts donations on an ongoing basis. All contributions and payments can be sent via check made out to the John Thomas Gaffney Memorial Fund and mailed to:

You can thank all these POS politicians for the new gun legislation designed to make law abidingRead More citizens give up their second amendment rights out of sheer frustration and incontinence of owning a gun legally for increases in savage on citizen violence. This is only the beginning and in short time many New Yorker's will be forced to remain in their homes fearing one of these animals will make them their pray. I for one believe in the old adage, it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
