West Islip Guide to Summer Camps for Kids

With a little less than four months left in the school year, local parents have already started planning for their kids’ summer vacation.

And that means one thing: summer camp.

To help you decide, West Islip Patch has compiled this summer camp guide featuring a host of programs in town – and others from nearby towns – to make the job of picking the one that’s right for your kids a much easier experience.

Name: Tutor Time
Type of camp: variety, sports/arts and crafts

Where: Tutor Time West Islip, 181 Sunrise Highway, West Islip.
When: June 25 -  Aug. 29
Deadline for registration: Open registration.
Details: Tutor Time offer summer day programs for toddlers through school-age children. Activities will include two trips a week, karate lessons, soccer lessons and swimming instruction. Tutor Time will hold a camp open house on April 18, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. for interested parents.

Name:  Little Scholars Day Care
Type of camp: sports/arts/educational
Cost: *2013 prices to be determined
Where: Little Scholars Day Care, 220 Washington Ave., Deer Park
When:  July 8 - Aug. 30
Deadline for registration:  Open enrollment, as space permits.
Details: Little Scholars offers a summer day camp program for children entering kindergarten (age 5) to sixth grade (roughly age 12). Each day consists of age-appropriate reading and math before children head outdoors to local park, pool, playground, bowling alley and more. There are also planned field trips to local amusement, but 2013 trips are still being finalized.

Name: North Babylon Patriot Soccer Camp
Type of camp: sports/soccer
Cost:  Mini-Soccer: $115, Half-Day Player Development: $135, Full-Day Player Development: $185
Where:  Phelps Lane Park, 151 Phelps Lane, North Babylon.
When: Aug. 19- Aug. 23
Deadline for registration: First-come, First-serve, as space permits.
Details: The Total Soccer Company comes to North Babylon Patriot Soccer Club for one-week for soccer players ages 3 - 14 to hone their skills. Three programs are available: Mini-Day (ages 3 - 5), Half-Day Player Development (ages 6 - 14), and Full-Day Player Development (ages 8- 14).
