West Islip 59th Annual Memorial Day Parade Set for Monday

Veterans and community groups will gather to honor and remember those who served.

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, and is a time for family gatherings and neighborhood parades.

The 59th Annual West Islip Memorial Day Parade kicks off at 10 a.m.

The parade, sponsored by local American Legion Post 1738, will start at Roderick Road and and Udall Road, and travel south to Memorial Park on Udall Road. The parade will continue head and conclude at Paul J. Bellew elementary school.

Local veteran groups, organizations, members of the the marching band from West Islip High School and the West Islip Fire Department will be the featured in the parade.

The public is invited to an open house tour of the American Legion Post 1738 immediately following the ceremony. Refreshments will be served.
